Introduction | Cristal and Cristal Premium, for inks | Azur and Azur Premium, for paints and varnishes | Idyl, for custom-tailored products

Cristal and Cristal Premium, developed by BERGERAC NC, is a family of top-quality products specifically designed for the production of inks and packaging varnishes.
All products in the range offer clear advantages, including approval for use in food packaging, compatibility with a broad variety of resins, and ease of use.
The Cristal nitrocellulose family comprises products specifically adapted to each application.

The “e” grades are particularly well suited to gravure printing, with special properties:
     - solubility in most solvents and retarding agents used in printing;
     - makes inks offering a high degree of heat resistance.

For example, e15 (European standard 37), reflecting BERGERAC NC’s unrivaled experience in lightly polymerized products, decreases the amount of solvents used, and also supports very fast drying rates.

The “a” grades, developed to meet the needs of flexographic printing, are soluble in alcohol-rich mixtures, which makes it easier to preserve printing plates.

These grades are multipurpose and can be used for flexographic or gravure type printing.
BERGERAC NC has developed a number of products to satisfy emerging needs in this sector, including:
     - “a10”, a very low-viscosity nitrocellulose used to produce high dry solids ink;
it can also be used as a grinding binder to increase the pigment percentage.
     - “ap” (a-premium) grades, soluble in absolute ethanol, and available in two different viscosities, ap10 and ap20. Designed to meet a narrow range of highly-targeted characteristics, they are used to formulate single-solvent bases and inks.

Cristal nitrocellulose products are delivered in alcohol or water impregnated, and available in solution form.

To further improve nitrocellulose performance, we offer a polymer plasticiser, Nepplast, with exceptional qualities that enables it to fully meet the tough technical and regulatory requirements for food packaging inks.
