Nitrocellulose is a film-forming polymer which
is widely recognized as an essential ingredient
in a large number of coatings.
Azur is the BERGERAC NC family of nitrocellulose
developed for inks, paints and varnishes.
AZUR
FOR PAINTS AND VARNISHES
Our nitrocellulose products offer excellent compatibility,
which means they can be combined with a wide variety
of other binders.
The excellent optical properties of our Azur
products support the production of varnishes that
embellish the natural aspect of wood, leather
and other materials, and help manufacture paints
with tightly-controlled color shades.
The Azur range spans a wide variety of viscosities,
so that you can choose the exact grade needed for the
type of material and the surface coating desired.
Our medium viscosity e33 grade, for instance,
couples good flexibility with sufficiently low
viscosity to formulate high dry solids varnishes.
The Azur range of nitrocellulose can be
delivered either in alcohol or water.
AZUR FOR INKS
BERGERAC NC has develloped a family of top-quality
products specifically designed for the production
of inks and packaging varnishes.
All products in the range offer clear advantages,
including approval for use in food packaging,
compatibility with a broad variety of resins,
and ease of use.
The “e” grades are particularly well suited
to gravure printing, with special properties:
- solubility in
most solvents and retarding agents used in printing;
- makes inks offering
a high degree of heat resistance.
For example, e15 (European standard 37),
reflecting BERGERAC NC’s unrivaled experience
in lightly polymerized products, decreases the
amount of solvents used, and also supports very
fast drying rates.
The “a” grades, developed to meet the
needs of flexographic printing, are soluble in
alcohol-rich mixtures, which makes it easier to
preserve printing plates and rolls.
These grades are multipurpose and can be used
for flexographic or gravure type printing.
BERGERAC NC has developed a number of products
to satisfy emerging needs in this sector, including:
- “a10”,
a very low-viscosity nitrocellulose used to produce
high dry solids ink;
it can also be used as a grinding binder to increase
the pigment percentage.
To further improve varnish performance, we offer
a polymer plasticiser, Nepplast, that enhances
their flexibility, adhesion and durability.

CRISTAL SOLUTIONS
Among the above grades, some of
them are available as solutions in various solvents.
